Tambourine B: A Musical Bracelet Inspired by Rhythm and Dance

A Symbol of Life, Dance, and Music

Just close your eyes and listen to the universe. Can you hear? The voice of the wind, the water, and nature. The world is made of music and dance, sound and motion, love and laughter. The truth is the universe is an instrument, just like a tambourine. This is perfect integrity.

The Tambourine B collection, designed by Nardin SeyedSabounchi, draws inspiration from the musical instrument of the same name. This small percussion instrument completes the rhythm of music, and playing it feels like making music and dancing simultaneously. The collection aims to capture the essence of life, dance, and music in the form of a bracelet.

What sets the Tambourine B apart is its unique properties. The bracelet contains a mobile and moving inner part, adding an element of playfulness and interaction. The precise fit in the design makes the construction method more complex and intriguing. When shaken or moved, the bracelet produces delightful and charming sounds, reminiscent of the tambourine itself.

The realization of the Tambourine B bracelet involves a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The bracelets are made from s925 silver, with the initial sketches performed by hand and then transformed into 3D printed resin models using Matrix gemvision software. The final products are soldered and assembled, followed by meticulous hand polishing and sanding. A silver plating process is applied for a smooth and polished surface color.

Technical specifications of the Tambourine B bracelet include a total weight of 32.97 g, an outer diameter of 7.50 cm, an inner diameter of 7 cm, an elevation of 1 cm, and a thickness of 2mm. These specifications ensure a durable and lightweight design suitable for everyday wear, appealing to individuals of all ages and styles.

The journey from idea to implementation for the Tambourine B collection began in 2018, with research, simulations, and sketches continuing until 2019. The production process was completed in 2020 in Tehran, Iran. Throughout the design process, the designer delved into the rich history and symbolism of the tambourine as a percussion instrument, aiming to create a symbol that embodies life, dance, and music.

The creation of the Tambourine B bracelet presented several challenges. The most significant hurdle was the production of the bracelet itself, as it features a mobile inner part. The design required the bracelet to be produced in three parts, which were then soldered together. The finishing touches were meticulously applied to ensure a seamless final product. To overcome the technical limitations of existing devices in Iran, the designer opted for 3D printing resin models and metal casting methods.

The Tambourine B collection is a testament to the designer's vision and dedication to creating a unique and meaningful piece of jewelry. It serves as a reminder of the inseparable connection between music, dance, and life itself. With its minimalistic design and universal appeal, the Tambourine B bracelet is a symbol of joy, rhythm, and self-expression.

The Tambourine B bracelet was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skill, and resourcefulness. The Tambourine B bracelet exemplifies the integration of art, science, design, and technology, contributing to the improvement of quality of life and making the world a better place.
